Recruitment Test for Teachers in Osun State Disrupted by Cyber Attack

The teacher’s recruitment test scheduled for 13 centres across Osun State on Wednesday faced disruptions in two centres in Osogbo, the state capital, and Ikire. The recruitment process initiated by the state government aimed to hire new teachers for public primary and secondary schools.

Following the conclusion of the form collection process, applicants were allocated to designated centres across the state by Osun State University (UNIOSUN), tasked with overseeing the recruitment process. The examinations were slated to occur between Wednesday, March 27, and Thursday, March 28, 2024, at different intervals.

While the recruitment exercise proceeded smoothly in 11 centres, two centres in Osogbo and Ikire encountered hitches. Despite a slow start in some centres, the process gained momentum and progressed steadily toward midday.

UNIOSUN’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, confirmed the disruptions in Osogbo and Ikire, attributing them to hackers who attempted to breach the university’s system. The cyber attack inflicted damage on the server, necessitating time to resolve the issue and leading to a delay in the commencement of exams. Consequently, tests at the two affected centres will be rescheduled.
