Killers of Kwara Monarch Allegedly Planned Murder in Local Pub; Abductors Demand N100m Ransom

Fresh details have emerged indicating that the assailants who killed the Olukoro of Koro in Kwara State, Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, reportedly planned the murder at a local pub in the town. The killers allegedly spent several hours at the pub, luring a salesgirl to lead them to the palace under the guise of discussing the progress of the town.

According to reports, the gunmen shot the monarch for refusing to comply with their orders to stand up and accompany them. The monarch’s wife and two others were abducted and are now facing a N100 million ransom demand.

The immediate brother of the slain monarch narrated the events, emphasizing the stubbornness of the Oba in the face of the attackers’ demands. The family awaits further updates from the police on the abduction.

In response to the incident, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq condemned the killing, urging security agencies to spare no resources in tracking down the perpetrators and freeing the hostages.

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki also expressed shock and condemned the killing, calling for increased efforts by the government and security forces to ensure the safety of lives and property in Kwara State.
