Mr. Yekini Nabena, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that attempts to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the next election are unachievable. He asserted that if former President Muhammadu Buhari could complete his 8-year term in office, no merger plot would unseat Tinubu in 2027.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, Nabena expressed confidence that “the 2027 presidential election will come and go but the President will remain in the South and President Bola Tinubu, by God’s grace, will continue his good job.”
He further emphasized that the South and North must support Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, asserting that Nigeria’s unity must not be compromised.
Nabena also expressed unwavering support for the incumbent President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, stating that no political coup in the National Assembly would remove him from office.
Addressing recent talks of merger and the formation of a mega-party among some opposition elements and members of the APC, Nabena stated that they were not afraid of any such moves. He asserted that Tinubu’s presidency was assured, and efforts to thwart it would be in vain.
Regarding former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s idea of a mega-party, Nabena remarked that they were also waiting for them, hinting at potential challenges faced by El-Rufai in his home state.
He concluded by expressing confidence in the ongoing reforms and the Almighty’s intervention in exposing those with evil intentions, ensuring victory for their cause.
