Tinubu Mourns Late Governor Akeredolu, Pays Tribute to His Legacy

President Bola Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, acknowledging that his death has created a void that will be challenging to fill. He conveyed these sentiments during his visit to the Paramount ruler of Owo, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye.

Tinubu, who was on a private visit to the state, aimed to offer his condolences to the people of Ondo State following the demise of the former governor. He paid his respects by visiting the family of the late governor and later meeting with the national leader of the Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

During his interactions, Tinubu emphasized that the legacy left behind by the departed governor will endure forever, reflecting on the honorable nature of departing the world when one’s accomplishments are at their peak.

He commended the late governor’s courage and unwavering dedication to good governance, describing him as a fearless fighter and a relentless advocate for the welfare of his people. Tinubu emphasized Akeredolu’s commitment to democratic principles and practices, highlighting his significant contributions as a true democrat.

In response, the Olowo of Owo expressed heartfelt appreciation to Tinubu for his visit and honored the late governor’s legacy as a staunch defender of democratic ideals. The monarch extended gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa and other dignitaries present for their efforts in organizing a fitting burial ceremony for the late governor.

Among those present at the Olowo of Owo’s palace were Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, Ondo State Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, and Speaker of the House of Assembly Olamide Oladiji.
