Renowned Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has stirred up debate by asserting that marriage isn’t conducive for musicians, particularly due to its impact on their connection with opposite-sex fans.
During his guest appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Terry G expressed his belief that marriage poses limitations for musicians, especially in terms of maintaining a strong rapport with female fans, whom he described as the lifeblood of the music industry.
“I don’t think marriage is for people like us [musicians]. If I get married, it would restrict me from my female fans. Females are the base of the music, they are the juice of the music industry. Remove them and you are bored,” Terry G remarked.
Highlighting the significance of opposite-sex fans in shaping the music industry’s dynamics, Terry G emphasized that marriage could potentially diminish a musician’s appeal and connection with their fanbase. He suggested that publicizing one’s marital status could lead to a decline in popularity, as married artists may be perceived as less desirable or unattainable.
