Singer Terry G has stirred up controversy by declaring Burna Boy as a bigger artist than Wizkid and Davido, while also crowning Davido as the sole “king” of Africa.
During a guest appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka Nedu, Husband Material, and Toun Cole, Terry G shared his bold opinions on the music industry, particularly regarding the status of Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.
In his candid remarks, Terry G expressed his belief that the ongoing debate between Wizkid and Davido is inconsequential, asserting Davido’s dominance as the “king of Africa” due to his unapologetically African music style and extensive African fanbase.
He further elaborated on the differences in musical approach between Wizkid and Davido, suggesting that Wizkid’s music may not resonate as strongly with African audiences due to its crossover appeal. In contrast, Terry G hailed Burna Boy as the true king, both within Africa and on the international stage, emphasizing his widespread popularity and influence.
“The Wizkid vs Davido debate, to me is lame. Davido is the king of Africa. He has an African audience. He sings unapologetic African music. But Wizkid’s mindset is targeted at crossover. His music doesn’t relate as much to us [Africans]. Burna Boy owns Africa and the International scene. He is their king. Burna surpasses both of them,” Terry G stated in Pidgin.
