Super Eagles Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali Receives Chieftaincy Title for AFCON Performance

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has been bestowed with a chieftaincy title by the traditional ruler of Mgbede community in Egbema Kingdom, Rivers State, Nzeobi Amida. The title, “Ugo Egbema” or “The Pride of Egbema Kingdom,” was conferred on Nwabali in recognition of his outstanding performance at the 2023 African Cup of Nations held in Cote D’Ivoire.

Nzeobi Amida, who also serves as the chairman of the ONELGA Council of Chiefs, highlighted Nwabali’s contribution to the honor and pride of Egbema Kingdom and ONELGA through his remarkable display for the Super Eagles. The goalkeeper’s stellar performance on the international stage has earned him admiration and accolades from his community.

In addition to the chieftaincy title, Nwabali was recently honored by Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, who presented him with a gift of N20 million and conferred upon him the prestigious Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State. The recognition further underscores the significance of Nwabali’s achievements and his positive representation of Rivers State on the national stage.

Furthermore, President Bola Tinubu extended his appreciation to Nwabali and the entire Super Eagles team by honoring each player and official with the Member of the Order of the Niger national award. This recognition reflects the nation’s pride and gratitude for their commendable performance, which led to securing the silver medal at the recently concluded AFCON tournament.
