Super Eagles Face Ivory Coast in 2023 AFCON Final; Chukwueze Confident of Victory

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, are gearing up to clash with hosts Ivory Coast in the highly anticipated final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament. Samuel Chukwueze, an integral player for Nigeria, exudes confidence in his team’s ability to clinch the coveted trophy.

The journey to the final has been marked by intense battles and impressive performances from both sides. Nigeria secured their spot in the final after a hard-fought victory over South Africa in a penalty shootout. Chukwueze, expressing unwavering belief in the Super Eagles, emphasized their determination to emerge victorious on Sunday.

“We are trying to recover and focus on the game on Sunday, the final against the host country,” stated Chukwueze. “I believe in this team, we have been fighting from the start of the competition, it’s time to bring the trophy back home.”

In contrast, Ivory Coast navigated through challenging encounters, including a dramatic penalty shootout triumph over reigning champions Senegal. Despite facing setbacks earlier in the tournament, the Elephants, under interim coach Emerse Fae, have exhibited resilience and skill to reach the final stage.

Former Nigerian international Friday Ekpo offered insights into Nigeria’s strategy, urging coach Jose Peseiro to adopt a fresh approach against Ivory Coast. “Another game plan is needed other than the usual that has been used,” Ekpo emphasized. “This is the final and must be handled as one.”

The final match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 11, at the Olympique Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, kicking off at 21:00 WAT, 22:00 SAT, and 23:00 EAT.
