Son Arrested for Allegedly Killing Father with Pestle in Plateau State

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Joseph Yakubu, for the alleged murder of his father, Yakubu Dalyop, with a pestle. The tragic incident occurred during a disagreement between the two individuals, resulting in the elder Dalyop sustaining fatal injuries from the assault.

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Hassan Yabanet, the altercation took place in the Anglo-Jos community, Jos South Local Government Area, on February 15, 2024. Subsequently, the victim was rushed to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital for medical treatment but tragically succumbed to his injuries on February 19, 2024.

Yakubu was apprehended by authorities following the incident, and the case is currently under investigation. The commissioner assured that upon the conclusion of the investigation, the suspect would be charged accordingly in court.

Addressing the media during the suspects’ parade at the command’s headquarters in Jos, Commissioner Yabanet reiterated the commitment of the police to combatting crime in the state. He highlighted the implementation of new operational strategies aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
