Six Suspected Cultists Arrested with Arms and Ammunition in Osun State

In a proactive move by vigilant residents and law enforcement authorities, six suspected cultists were apprehended in Ipetu-Ijesa, Osun State, while attempting to travel to the South-South region of Nigeria. According to a reliable security source who spoke on condition of anonymity, concerned residents alerted the police upon noticing the suspicious behavior of the suspects at a motor park.

The suspects, who were reportedly attempting to board a vehicle destined for Ile Oluji in Ondo State en route to Delta State, were intercepted by police operatives from the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Osun State Police Command. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the suspects during the operation, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

The source revealed that the suspects, originating from Ilorin in Kwara State, confessed to being members of the Eiye confraternity and admitted their intention to engage in cultism activities upon reaching Delta State. The swift action taken by the police underscores the importance of community vigilance and collaboration in combating criminal activities.

Confirming the incident, the Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, emphasized the successful apprehension of the suspects and the recovery of four cut-to-size locally made pistols along with 155 rounds of live 9mm ammunition. Opalola reiterated the commitment of the police to ensuring the safety and security of residents, urging continued cooperation from the public in reporting suspicious activities.
