Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, known as Simi, recently shared insights into the driving force behind her success, attributing it to the groundbreaking efforts of female artists who paved the way before her.
Acknowledging the sacrifices and resilience of female artists who challenged the status quo, Simi emphasized the pivotal role they played in reshaping the music industry, traditionally dominated by men. In a conversation with African Folder, she expressed gratitude towards these trailblazers, recognizing their contributions in creating opportunities for subsequent generations of female artists.
Simi reflected, “There are women who have worked hard to damn the status quo. So, I won’t give myself much credit other than for because I also benefited from other women who came before me.”
