Renowned comedian Oluwaseyitan Aletile, popularly known as Seyi Law, revealed a substantial loss of over 200,000 followers on social media due to his active support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 election campaign. The controversial comedian disclosed this during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel (Nedu), Toun Cole, and Husband Material.
In the podcast, Seyi Law addressed the significant loss, stating, “I lost over 200,000 followers because of the election, which for me, is not a problem. The most important thing is that whatever you do, try as much as possible to show that you’re doing it from the right place. Is it fair to those concerned? If you’re not being fair, don’t do it.”
The comedian emphasized the importance of sincerity and fairness in activism while acknowledging the consequences of his stance during the election.
Furthermore, Seyi Law credited President Bola Tinubu with transforming Lagos into the thriving entertainment hub it is today. He stated, “Tinubu probably made Lagos a conducive environment for entertainment to thrive.” As the comedian reflects on his experiences, the fallout from his social media activism becomes a testament to the complexities of engaging in political discourse within the public sphere.
