Second Lagos DPO Dies After Collapsing in Office

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Bolaji Olugbenga, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ijanikin Police Station, who collapsed and died in his office on Thursday evening. His death marks the second tragedy in the same week, following the similar passing of SP Mojeed Salami, DPO of Seme, Lagos.

Command spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident on Friday night, stating that Olugbenga died before he could be rushed to a hospital. Officers at the station were reportedly thrown into mourning following the news. His body has been moved to a mortuary.

Earlier in the week, SP Salami collapsed in his office on Tuesday, January 10, and was confirmed dead at a hospital after being rushed there. He had reportedly been feeling unwell before the incident.

The deaths of two DPOs in such quick succession have raised concerns within the Lagos State Police Command.
