Scottie Scheffler Leads Tour Championship by Five Shots Ahead of Final Round

World number one Scottie Scheffler will take a commanding five-shot lead into the final round of the Tour Championship after a strong finish in his third round. Scheffler, who is seeking his first FedExCup title, shot a 66 to reach a 26-under-par total, putting him ahead of fellow American Collin Morikawa.

Morikawa briefly cut Scheffler’s lead to two shots on the front nine, but Scheffler responded with crucial birdies on the seventh and eighth holes and finished with four birdies in his last five holes. “I’ve had my chances here to win some tournaments and I’ll have no better opportunity than Sunday,” said Scheffler, expressing confidence in his mental preparation.

Morikawa also closed his round strongly, recording birdies on three of his final four holes to stay within reach at 21-under. Despite the challenge ahead, Morikawa remains optimistic, saying, “It’s going to be very hard, but I believe in myself that I can do it.”

Sahith Theegala made the biggest move of the day, finishing with five consecutive birdies to climb into third place at 17-under, just ahead of Xander Schauffele, who sits at 16-under. The winner of the Tour Championship will take home a staggering £19 million in prize money.

Selected other scores include Shane Lowry at 13-under, Rory McIlroy at 11-under, and Tommy Fleetwood at 6-under.
