Rory McIlroy Seeks Guidance from Butch Harmon Ahead of The Masters

Rory McIlroy, currently ranked second in the world, has turned to legendary golf coach Butch Harmon for assistance in addressing the challenges in his game ahead of The Masters. With only one top-20 finish on the PGA Tour this season, McIlroy hopes to find solutions to improve his performance.

Harmon, renowned for his work with Tiger Woods during the early stages of Woods’ career, has been sought out by McIlroy for guidance. McIlroy, who has known Harmon since he was 14 years old, values Harmon’s insights and sought a second opinion on his game, particularly focusing on concerns over his iron play.

During a recent visit to Harmon in Las Vegas, McIlroy spent four hours discussing and working on his game. Harmon’s coaching style, which combines technical expertise with psychological insights, resonated with McIlroy, offering him valuable advice and perspective.

Despite having a long-time coach in Michael Bannon, McIlroy sees the benefit of seeking additional guidance from Harmon, who has a proven track record of coaching major champions like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Greg Norman.
