Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has pledged to bestow deserving honors upon Precious Ofurum, a Rivers indigene who tragically lost his life in a recent boat mishap in Asaba, Delta State. Governor Fubara made this commitment during a visit by the state chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and Nollywood practitioners to the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Expressing his condolences to the family of the deceased and commending the solidarity shown by Nollywood practitioners, Governor Fubara emphasized the exemplary character of Precious Ofurum, describing him as a distinguished Nigerian who remained committed to his country despite challenges.
The Governor acknowledged the grief caused by the news of Precious’s passing, particularly as it was revealed that he hailed from Rivers State. He assured the bereaved family that the state government would honor Precious’s memory and recognize his contributions to the entertainment industry.
Governor Fubara reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting youth development and pledged to extend assistance to the family of Precious Ofurum, emphasizing the youth-friendly nature of his leadership.
In his presentation, Mr. Eric Stevenson, the convener of the solidarity visit, recounted the tragic incident involving actors returning from a movie set, which claimed the lives of several individuals, including Precious Ofurum. He expressed gratitude for the governor’s response and expressed hope for prompt action from the state government to comfort the bereaved family.
