Rivers State APC Alleges Plot by Governor Fubara to Declare State Assembly Illegal

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised alarm over alleged plans by Governor Siminalayi Fubara to obtain interim orders aimed at declaring the state House of Assembly illegal. Additionally, the opposition party accused Governor Fubara of inciting violence and disrespecting President Bola Tinubu during a recent address to members of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Port Harcourt.

During a media briefing in Port Harcourt, State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman Tony Okocha revealed the party’s concerns regarding Governor Fubara’s purported actions and statements. Okocha highlighted the governor’s remarks, where he warned political adversaries, stating, “If you dare me I will surprise you,” and urged NULGE members to prepare for “fire for fire” in the face of perceived challenges.

The APC expressed apprehension over Governor Fubara’s intentions to procure interim orders that could undermine the legitimacy of the state House of Assembly, potentially escalating the political crisis in Rivers State. The party condemned what it perceives as provocative rhetoric and inflammatory actions by the governor, accusing him of sowing seeds of discord and disrespecting President Bola Tinubu.
