Nigerian singer Anthony Victor, popularly known as Vict0ny, has unveiled his debut album titled Stubborn.
The album was launched on Wednesday at an exclusive release party, drawing attendance from prominent figures in the music industry, including Davido, Falz, Kcee, and Naeto C. Nigerian professional chess player Tunde Onakoya also graced the event, delivering a live poetic presentation.
Vict0ny announced that Stubborn will be officially released on Friday, June 21, 2024. The album features 14 tracks produced by 15 different producers. In an interview, Vict0ny explained that the album continues his personal narrative. “Stubborn is a way of telling everyone out there that I am still that kid. I haven’t changed for anything, and it is a reflection of my life. It represents everything I went through to be here,” he said. Reflecting on his upbringing in Lagos, he added, “Thinking about all that is the reason why I named the album Stubborn. If you are creative and chase your dream, you are stubborn.”
Vict0ny first gained attention in 2022 with the release of “Soweto,” a single from his Outlaw EP, which went viral on TikTok. A remix featuring Rema and Don Toliver achieved international success, charting in the UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Canada. He initially broke into the music scene by trading rap verses with Ladipoe on the Revival Sunday series and debuted with a mixtape on SoundCloud titled The Outlaw King.
