Rema Donates 105 Million Naira to Christ Embassy Church in Benin, Edo State

Afrobeats superstar Divine Ikubor, widely known as Rema, has made a generous donation of 105 million naira to various departments within the Christ Embassy church in Benin, Edo State. This act of gratitude occurred during a church service on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Rema, who rose to global prominence with hits like “Dumebi” and “Calm Down,” expressed his deep appreciation to the church for the guidance and support it provided to him and his family, particularly after the death of his father. In a video that has since gone viral, the singer acknowledged the church’s role in keeping him spiritually grounded.

“I’m not here to give myself any accolades or glory. I’m here to give God the glory. I feel like it is important to give back because the church has embraced, and prayed for me, and has kept me very consistent with my spirit,” Rema stated during the service.

He then announced his donations: a pledge of 40 million naira for the church’s infrastructure, 20 million naira for the church’s devotional, Rhapsody of Realities, 25 million naira for the infrastructure of the teen’s church where he once belonged, and 20 million naira specifically for widows within the church.

Rema also shared a poignant memory of how the church supported his family after the passing of his father when he was just eight years old. “When I lost my dad, we felt very lost and abandoned. All that we had was taken from us and we felt very alone. I remember at the time Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, the pastors of this church, they opened a shop for my mum and that was how she managed to take care of us,” he recalled.

This gesture from Rema not only underscores his success but also his deep sense of gratitude and responsibility to give back to the community that played a pivotal role in his journey.
