Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested that a Joe Biden presidency would be more favorable for Russia than a Donald Trump administration, citing Biden’s experience and predictability in a recent interview with pro-Kremlin journalist Pavel Zarubin.
During the on-camera interview, Putin stated that Biden’s background as a seasoned politician would make him a preferable counterpart for Russia, describing him as “predictable” and representing “an old formation” of politics. However, Putin emphasized that Russia would be willing to work with any leader elected by the American people.
Regarding the current US administration’s handling of international affairs, Putin expressed criticism, particularly concerning Russia’s conflict with Ukraine. He described the administration’s position as “extremely harmful and erroneous,” pointing to what he perceives as broken agreements and Western leaders’ alleged deception regarding NATO expansion.
Putin also lamented the delay in taking “active actions” in Ukraine, asserting that Russia had been misled about NATO’s intentions and expressing concerns about Ukraine’s potential NATO membership.
In addition, Putin discussed his recent interview with far-right media personality Tucker Carlson, expressing disappointment with the lack of aggressive questioning. Putin had anticipated a more confrontational interview, which he believed would afford him the opportunity to provide robust responses.
