President Tinubu’s Two-Week Leave: Not Restricted to UK, Says Aide

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, has clarified that the president is free to travel wherever he chooses during his two-week leave, which began earlier this month. Responding to speculations about Tinubu’s movements, Onanuga stated that the president is not limited to staying in the United Kingdom during his vacation.

Onanuga, via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, wrote: “President Tinubu is on leave for two weeks. He is not restricted to the UK. It is his private time. He can go to anywhere he so desires. He is still observing his leave.”

Reports confirmed that President Tinubu departed the UK for Paris, France, where he is expected to attend an important engagement. Ibrahim Kabir Masari, the Special Assistant to the President on Political and other matters, also shared this information, noting that he had met Tinubu at his UK residence before accompanying him to Paris. “Today, I had the honour of visiting President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his private residence in the United Kingdom, where we engaged in productive discussions. We then departed for Paris, France, for another important engagement,” Masari posted on his verified X account.

Tinubu’s leave was initially announced by Onanuga on October 2, when the president departed Abuja for the UK. The two-week break is part of his yearly leave, which Onanuga described as a “working vacation” intended for reflection on his administration’s economic reforms. Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after his leave ends.
