President Tinubu Warns Ethnic Agitators, Pledges Economic Reform and Security Enhancement

President Bola Tinubu issued a stern warning to ethnic agitators, emphasizing that those who pose a threat to Nigeria’s sovereignty will face consequences. His remarks came during a meeting with leaders of Afenifere, the Yoruba Socio-Cultural Organization, at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday.

Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to achieving comprehensive economic security and addressing foundational challenges while creating a fair and equitable system for all Nigerians to thrive. He highlighted ongoing efforts to re-engineer Nigeria’s finances, boost citizens’ purchasing power, and promote prosperity across the nation.

“We are committed to the economic survival of our country. To re-engineer the finances of our country, we must start in earnest. So first, retool, revamp the economic opportunities available, and resolve to continue taking the firm and steady baby steps that are necessary,” Tinubu stated.

Addressing concerns about education and unemployment, Tinubu underscored the importance of investing in the youth and providing social security measures. He also outlined plans to enhance citizens’ purchasing power through initiatives like the Consumer Credit Scheme.

On security, Tinubu affirmed the government’s resolve to combat terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, emphasizing that those who threaten Nigeria’s sovereignty will face consequences. He expressed confidence in the success of ongoing security operations and intelligence gathering efforts.

In response to Tinubu’s remarks, leaders of Afenifere commended his leadership and urged him to prioritize fairness, equity, and constitutional amendments to devolve more powers to the states. They pledged continued support for Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing their commitment to Nigeria’s unity and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by prominent figures including Pa Reuben Fasoranti, leader of Afenifere, and Oba Olu Falae, who commended Tinubu’s efforts and assured him of Afenifere’s unwavering support.

President Tinubu concluded the meeting with a call for unity and prosperity, expressing gratitude for the delegation’s support and reaffirming his commitment to advancing Nigeria’s development.
