President Tinubu Vows to Tackle Smugglers and Subsidy Beneficiaries Amidst Economic Reforms

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deploying resources to critical sectors for the welfare of Nigerians. Speaking to members of the Forum of State Chairmen of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC), Tinubu emphasized the need to outmaneuver smugglers and what he termed “old subsidy beneficiaries” who resist reforms.

Since assuming office in May 2023, President Tinubu has taken bold steps, including discontinuing petroleum subsidies and unifying foreign exchange rates, to improve the country’s economic landscape. Despite facing opposition from vested interests, Tinubu remains resolute in defending the people’s treasury and advancing good governance.

Tinubu outlined his government’s progressive agenda, which includes initiatives such as student loans, a national consumer credit system, and social welfare for the unemployed. He stressed the importance of every Nigerian finding a place of belonging in the country’s journey to prosperity.

Moreover, Tinubu highlighted agriculture’s pivotal role in economic growth, announcing plans for large-scale livestock farming and mechanized agriculture. He underscored the need to transform past crises into opportunities and achieve self-sufficiency in food production.

The President urged party members to mobilize citizens for National Identification Number (NIN) registration, emphasizing its significance for social security interventions. He established a committee, led by Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima, to address the needs of the populace.

APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje echoed Tinubu’s sentiments, announcing plans to establish the Progressive Institute of Policy and Development for members and the broader Nigerian public. The Forum of APC State Chairmen pledged unwavering support for the President’s economic programs.

As President Tinubu presses forward with his reforms, he remains undeterred by opposition, determined to steer Nigeria towards prosperity through sound governance and inclusive policies.
