President Bola Tinubu has articulated his administration’s determination to enhance Nigeria’s self-sufficiency in food production and transform the nation into a net exporter of agricultural products through robust mechanization efforts.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement, led by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday, Tinubu underscored his commitment to bolstering agricultural productivity in the country.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, titled “President Tinubu: We are determined to achieve food sufficiency for Nigeria,” Tinubu emphasized the significance of spiritual endeavors in the nation-building process, reaffirming his administration’s support for religious activities.
“Nigeria will become a net exporter of food…through aggressive mechanization,” Tinubu asserted, outlining his administration’s strategy to revolutionize agricultural practices. He highlighted the deployment of thousands of tractors and the expansion of farmlands as key initiatives to significantly enhance food production.
“We must be productive as a people. That is the Sunnah and the principles I grew up understanding,” Tinubu emphasized, drawing attention to the importance of productivity in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Furthermore, Tinubu outlined comprehensive plans to boost agricultural productivity, including the provision of low-interest loans to farmers and substantial investments in irrigation infrastructure. He emphasized the imperative of collaboration between political and spiritual leaders to advance national interests and foster unity among the populace.
“We are dedicated to equipping hospitals with modern equipment, providing healthcare professionals with training, and ensuring social welfare for every citizen, including comprehensive health insurance coverage,” Tinubu affirmed, underscoring his administration’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services and social welfare programs.
Expressing gratitude to the Global Tijaniyya Movement for their support and prayers, Tinubu reiterated the importance of collective efforts in building a prosperous Nigeria.
In response, Sheikh Mahe Niass, representing the delegation, commended President Tinubu for his unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s peace, progress, and stability. He conveyed the fervent support and prayers of the Global Tijaniyya Movement to President Tinubu, expressing confidence in his leadership.
During the visit, the delegation offered prayers for the nation’s progress, unity, and prosperity, beseeching Almighty Allah to grant President Tinubu wisdom, strength, and success in his endeavors.
