President Bola Tinubu to Embark on Official Visit to Qatar

President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to depart Lagos for a two-day official visit to the State of Qatar, commencing on Thursday.

At the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the visit aims to strengthen cooperation between the two nations across various sectors, including security, cultural exchange, and economic development.

According to a statement by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the visit will witness the signing of several agreements focused on enhancing Nigeria’s real sector and promoting value-additive investments. These agreements will span trade, education, culture, solid minerals, digital economy, agriculture, gas, and collaboration on counter-terrorism.

President Tinubu will also participate in a business and investment forum, convening top-level executives from both private and public sectors of Nigeria and Qatar. This forum seeks to explore cross-sectoral opportunities for mutually beneficial growth and development.

Accompanying President Tinubu on this trip will be senior government officials relevant to the agreements to be signed.

Notably, Qatar marks the third Gulf state visited by President Tinubu since assuming office nine months ago. This visit constitutes his 16th foreign destination and 12th official trip, reflecting a commitment to engaging with global partners to advance Nigeria’s interests.

Thus far, Tinubu has visited several key international destinations, including Paris (France), London (UK), Bissau (Guinea-Bissau), Nairobi (Kenya), Porto Novo (Benin Republic), New Delhi (India), Abu Dhabi and Dubai (UAE), New York (USA), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Berlin (Germany), and Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
