President Bola Tinubu has opted to forego any celebration for his upcoming 72nd birthday on March 29, 2024, in light of the challenges facing Nigerians due to government policy reforms. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu emphasized the need to prioritize charity and reflection during these difficult times.
Instead of hosting birthday events or accepting celebratory gestures, President Tinubu has urged his associates and well-wishers to direct any donations or goodwill messages to charity organizations. He has also banned the placement of birthday advertisements in newspapers, radio, or television stations.
The decision comes amidst the backdrop of recent security concerns and tragic events, including the killing of security personnel in Delta State and escalating security breaches across the nation. President Tinubu expressed his commitment to addressing these challenges and working towards a more stable, secure, prosperous, and united Nigeria.
Acknowledging the sacrifices of the armed forces in recent rescue operations, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of reflecting on national priorities and re-dedicating efforts towards national development and cohesion.
