Presidency Denies Alleged Rift Between President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima

The Presidency has dismissed claims of a strained relationship between President Bola Tinubu and his Deputy, Senator Kashim Shettima, labeling the reports as unfounded and malicious. This denial was issued in a tribute by Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, marking Shettima’s 58th birthday.

Nkwocha’s tribute, titled “VP Shettima @ 58: A Boss, Mentor And Quintessential Leader,” countered allegations suggesting Shettima had been sidelined or marginalized by Tinubu’s administration. He praised Shettima’s leadership qualities and his unwavering support for President Tinubu.

According to Nkwocha, “No Vice President in Nigeria’s history has enjoyed such total confidence and support from his principal as Shettima.” He emphasized that Shettima’s loyalty and dedication to Tinubu are evident and genuine. The tribute described the vice president as a beacon of commitment and an effective collaborator, contrasting sharply with previous administrations marked by discord between the president and vice president.

Nkwocha further highlighted Shettima’s significant contributions to the administration, noting his impactful background in banking and finance, which has aided in shaping economic policies. Shettima’s advocacy for fiscal discipline, investment in infrastructure, and support for SMEs have been pivotal in driving economic growth. Additionally, his commitment to social justice and regional inclusivity has bolstered the administration’s reform agenda.
