Peter Obi Calls for Urgent Review of 2024 Budget Amidst National Challenges

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has issued a compelling plea for a comprehensive review of the 2024 budget in response to mounting concerns over Nigeria’s security crisis, pervasive poverty, food insecurity, and deteriorating infrastructure.

In a statement released on Monday, Obi voiced his apprehensions regarding the current budget’s allocation of resources and called for a thorough reassessment of its provisions. He emphasized the critical need for swift action from both the executive and legislative branches, urging them to prioritize the reallocation of resources to address pressing national issues.

Highlighting the dire state of affairs, Obi underscored the imperative of allocating sufficient funds to key sectors such as security, poverty alleviation, food security, and power supply. He emphasized that Nigeria’s resources must be effectively directed towards tackling these pressing challenges, especially given the nation’s current hardships.

Obi lamented the alarming levels of hunger, food insecurity, and inadequate power supply plaguing the country, emphasizing the urgent need for action to address these issues. Additionally, he highlighted the staggering number of out-of-school children in Nigeria, stressing the importance of prioritizing education and providing access to basic schooling for all.
