Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, the Olagunsoye Oyinlola-led Reconciliation Committee will present its findings and potential recommendations to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC). The report, which aims to address internal disputes within the party, will be reviewed by the NWC before being presented to the NEC for ratification.
The Reconciliation Committee held a meeting at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday, finalizing its report in preparation for the briefing. The committee has engaged in discussions with various party stakeholders, including the PDP National Assembly Caucus, in an effort to identify and resolve the internal conflicts affecting the party’s performance.
Oyinlola emphasized the importance of unity within the party, saying, “For any party to enter a political battle and win, it must be united. That’s what we’re aiming for.”
He also commented on the upcoming Ondo governorship election, noting that the committee had discussed the election while touring the South-West, and that strategies were being put in place.
When asked about potential suspensions within the party, Oyinlola dismissed the rumors, stating, “As far as we’re concerned, I would take that as a rumor for now. We’re meeting with the National Working Committee tomorrow, so after that, you can ask me again.”
In a related development, the PDP Governors Forum (PDP-GF) is also set to meet on Tuesday, where discussions will focus on the upcoming NEC meeting, including whether to hold it as scheduled or set a new date, as well as the possible agenda items for the meeting.
