PDP Poised for Victory in Edo Governorship Election, Says Osagie

With 19 days remaining until the September 21 Edo governorship election, the Oredo PDP Campaign Council has declared that Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is the only one with the structure and capacity to win. Crusoe Osagie, Chairman of the Publicity Committee of the campaign council, made this assertion during a press conference in Benin City on Monday.

Osagie highlighted that the election would primarily be contested among three parties: the PDP, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Labour Party (LP). However, he dismissed the chances of the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and the LP candidate, Olumide Akpata, stating that they lack the necessary experience and capability to govern Edo State effectively.

“So that leaves us with one person, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, an accomplished lawyer… We believe that he is the only candidate that is viable and we are calling on all Edo people to join us in Oredo because we know we are going to give the PDP and Ighodalo a landslide victory in Oredo Local Government,” Osagie stated.

Osagie criticized Akpata as an “inexperienced private sector practitioner” who lacks government experience and questioned his political sensitivity for contesting from Edo South when there is a desire for representation from Edo Central.

Regarding Okpebholo, Osagie questioned his intelligence and suitability for the governor’s office, comparing him unfavorably to Ighodalo, whom he described as a more intelligent and capable leader.
