PDP Leader Warns President Tinubu Against Interference in Rivers State

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against allowing anti-democratic forces to seize control of Rivers State. Wabara’s warning came amid escalating tensions between Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

In a statement released on Friday, Wabara voiced his concern over the political unrest in Rivers State, emphasizing that the situation did not justify calls for a state of emergency. “There is nothing happening in the state that warrants the call for state of emergency as being demanded by these fake apostles of peace,” he stated.

Wabara warned that any attempts to undermine Governor Fubara could have severe consequences for Nigeria. He stressed the commitment of the PDP and law-abiding citizens to uphold democracy in Rivers State. “We won’t allow anti-democratic forces and insatiable elements hijack power through the back door in their desperation to hang on to power and hold the state to the jugular,” he declared.

Highlighting the potential for widespread political unrest, Wabara urged President Tinubu to resist pressure from what he described as “greedy and self-overrated power drunks.” He cautioned that actions perceived as despotic could lead to avoidable national upheaval, stating, “Any attempt to scuttle the democratically elected PDP-led Government in Rivers is a recipe to a political unrest capable of consuming the entire country.”
