Asue Ighodalo, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, has lauded party leaders and stakeholders for their constructive input in resolving internal issues ahead of the September 21 election in the state.
During a meeting with party leaders from Akoko Edo, Ighodalo urged continued efforts in resolving internal party conflicts, emphasizing the PDP’s pivotal role in national rescue efforts.
He highlighted the PDP’s resilience since 1999, contrasting it with the disintegration of other political parties, and underscored the importance of unity within the party to overcome the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he labeled as a hindrance to Nigeria’s development.
Ighodalo emphasized the need for a comprehensive campaign structure, inclusive of all interest groups, including women, youths, and the ‘Obidient’ Movement, to ensure fair representation and electoral success.
In response, the leader of the group, Olu Fashanu, commended Governor Godwin Obaseki’s choice of Marvellous Omobayo as the new deputy governor, emphasizing the importance of productive engagement to ensure electoral victory.
