PDP Candidate Ighodalo Urges Edo Voters to Reject ‘Bad Children’ in Upcoming Election

Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, has called on voters to reject what he termed “bad children” from the community, despite their local roots. He made this statement during a campaign event in Iguobazuwa, Ovia South West, on Saturday.

Addressing the crowd, Ighodalo dismissed the notion that only “homeboys” can govern Edo State effectively, insisting that such candidates may not always have the best interests of the people at heart. He emphasized that he has served the community by facilitating employment opportunities during his tenure as a director at Okomu Oil.

“I was a director in Okomu Oil and facilitated the employment of many sons of the soil to very top positions. By extension, I am also the son of the soil,” Ighodalo said. He promised to do even more for Ovia South West if elected governor.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, also speaking at the event, echoed Ighodalo’s sentiments, stressing the need to elect competent leaders. “We don’t want to be taken back by some incompetent people. We have no reason to go back,” Obaseki said, urging voters to support Ighodalo and PDP candidate Osarodion Ogie.

Obaseki reassured the electorate that their votes would count and highlighted government efforts, such as the establishment of the College of Agriculture, aimed at providing local youths with education to deter them from fraudulent activities.
