Paris Saint-Germain Held to 2-2 Draw by Reims as Mbappe Starts on Bench

Paris Saint-Germain faced disappointment as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Reims at the Parc des Princes, with star striker Kylian Mbappe starting on the bench.

Reims took a surprising lead in the sixth minute after an error from Achraf Hakimi allowed Marshall Munetsi to capitalize with an easy finish. However, PSG quickly responded, with a Yunis Abdelhamid own goal leveling the match just 11 minutes later.

Goncalo Ramos then put Reims back in front in the 19th minute with his sixth Ligue 1 goal of the season. However, PSG’s lead was short-lived as Will Still’s visitors equalized just before halftime through Oumar Diakite.

Despite PSG boss Luis Enrique calling upon Mbappe in the 73rd minute, the French striker, who is set to join Real Madrid in the summer, was unable to make a significant impact as Reims limited his chances.

Mbappe’s involvement comes after he was substituted at halftime in PSG’s goalless draw with Monaco, prompting Enrique to stress the need for the club to adapt to playing without their star forward.

Despite the draw, PSG maintained their 10-point lead at the top of Ligue 1, albeit with their third consecutive domestic draw. Meanwhile, Reims remain in ninth place in the league standings.
