Palmeiras, the Brazilian football club, is poised to request a postponement of Endrick’s transfer to Real Madrid until the conclusion of 2024. The young sensation, who signed a deal with the Spanish giants in 2022, is currently set to join them during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The development comes after reports from GOAL highlighted Palmeiras’ intention to retain Endrick until the culmination of the Serie A season. ESPN sources reveal that Leila Pereira, the president of Palmeiras, intends to address this matter with Madrid’s chief scout, Juni Calafat, during an upcoming meeting in Sao Paolo.
Endrick’s transfer to Real Madrid was confirmed in December 2022, with the arrangement stipulating his move to the Spanish capital upon reaching 18 years of age. However, with the anticipated arrival of Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid, Palmeiras sees an opportunity to capitalize on this high-profile transfer by retaining their star player for the remainder of their season.
The rising star, Endrick, made waves in the football world when he made his debut for Palmeiras’ first team at the age of 16 towards the end of the 2022 season. His exceptional talent quickly attracted the attention of top European clubs, with Real Madrid moving swiftly to secure his services for a reported €60 million (£52m/$64m) fee, matching his release clause.
Notably, Endrick made headlines when he became the fourth-youngest player to represent Brazil, earning his international debut at the age of 17 years and 118 days last November. His achievement surpassed that of football legend Ronaldo Nazario by 65 days, although he remains behind the iconic Pele, who earned his first cap at just 16 years and 257 days in 1957.
