Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their swift response in maintaining peace in the state, particularly during the recent invasion of the Government Secretariat by Yoruba Nation agitators.
During a meeting with the 46th General Officer Commanding of the 2 Mechanised Division, Maj. Gen. Obinna Onubogu, at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, Makinde praised the effective security system that brought the aggressors to their knees within a short time.
The governor highlighted the successful activation of the Emergency Security Response, which led to the quick apprehension of the invaders. He expressed gratitude to the security agencies for their timely response and emphasized the importance of winning both the war and peace during challenging times.
Makinde urged the new GOC to maintain the cordial relationship between the 2 Mechanised Division and the state government, as well as with the people of the state.
In response, Maj-Gen Onubogu expressed his condolences over the invasion and assured the governor of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to preventing such incidents from occurring again.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives South-West caucus condemned the invasion, describing it as a threat to the peace and stability of the region. They emphasized the importance of addressing grievances through peaceful and lawful means, urging all parties to engage in constructive dialogue.
