Nigerian Afrobeat star Oxlade has revealed that he feels more appreciated in Ghana than in his home country, Nigeria. Speaking during an interview about his debut album, *Oxlade from Africa*, the singer discussed his choice to feature Ghanaian hip-hop legend Sarkodie on the project.
Oxlade also addressed earlier remarks he made on X, where he accused some industry veterans of boycotting and blackmailing him. He clarified that these comments were driven by his frustration with individuals who try to control the careers of others in the Nigerian music scene.
“If I’m being honest with you, Ghana has shown me more love than Nigeria,” Oxlade stated. He went on to criticize the attitude of some in the industry, saying, “I hate the mindset of people trying to play god. When they feel like they can determine your trajectory.”
The singer expressed that such behavior often stems from feeling slighted in personal interactions.
