Osun Governor Pledges Infrastructure Boost for Ile-Ife

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced a commitment to enhance the infrastructure of Ile-Ife, aiming to establish the city as a premier tourism hub for the Yoruba people.

In a statement issued on Monday, Governor Adeleke expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of development in Ile-Ife, describing the city as being in need of significant transformation. He emphasized that Ile-Ife, an ancient city of great cultural and historical importance, must not appear outdated when attracting global visitors.

Speaking during a meeting with the Ife Development Board at the Government House, Adeleke outlined his administration’s plans to upgrade Ile-Ife’s infrastructure, including the completion of a flyover and the dualisation of roads leading to the Ooni’s palace. He expressed a desire to be remembered as the governor who modernized Ile-Ife into a cultural and tourist destination.

Adeleke acknowledged the support of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and other local leaders for the ongoing projects. He highlighted the economic benefits of the road dualisation, noting its significance as a commercial junction linking various regions.

The President of the Ife Development Board, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye, praised Governor Adeleke for his development efforts and submitted requests for further improvements in road expansion, security, and agriculture. He underscored the importance of transforming Ile-Ife into a more welcoming and vibrant city for Yoruba people both locally and in the Diaspora.
