OOU Student Arrested for Kidnapping and Murder of FUNAAB Student

Ayomide Adeleye, a 23-year-old Philosophy student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ogun State, has been arrested for the kidnap and alleged murder of Christiannah Idowu, a student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). The crime, which has caused outrage on social media, occurred after Christiannah was declared missing on August 19, 2024.

Reports indicate that Ayomide confessed to the crime after being arrested at his parents’ home in Ikorodu, Lagos, following investigations that linked him to the ransom demands and financial transactions from Christiannah’s account. After initially demanding N1.5 million in ransom and receiving N350,000, communication ceased, raising suspicion.

Further investigations uncovered that Ayomide had laundered money from Christiannah’s account through a betting platform and a Wema Bank account, leading authorities to his location. The Nigerian Army’s 174th Battalion, in collaboration with intelligence operatives, arrested Ayomide, who later confessed to killing and burying Christiannah.
