Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has declared the implementation of a N73,000 minimum wage for workers in the state, surpassing the federal government’s approved N70,000. The announcement was made during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial campaign for the Ondo Central Senatorial District in Ondo City, ahead of the November 16 election.
Speaking to a large crowd of supporters, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged them to translate their enthusiasm into votes for the APC to ensure the continuation of developmental initiatives in the state. He emphasized the importance of continuity, saying, “On November 16, I urge everyone gathered here and those who are not present to convert your support into votes for the APC to ensure the continuation of our significant progress in the state.”
The governor highlighted his administration’s achievements over the past 10 months, particularly in agriculture, infrastructure, and health. He noted significant strides in boosting food production and improving rural road networks, with over a billion naira allocated for land clearing projects. Aiyedatiwa also stressed his commitment to enhancing security, education, and youth empowerment, while addressing the issue of “Japa” syndrome by increasing doctors’ salaries and allowances to retain medical professionals in the state.
APC State Chairman Engr. Ade Adetimehin also spoke, urging voters to secure their voter cards and ensure the party’s continued leadership. He praised the governor’s dedication to infrastructural development and called for strong grassroots mobilization.
Hon. Abiola Makinde, Director-General of the campaign and a House of Representatives member, praised Governor Aiyedatiwa as a “proven and reliable leader” and encouraged supporters to return to their communities to mobilize voters for the election.
Several prominent figures, including former governorship aspirant Chief Olusola Oke and former PDP gubernatorial aspirant Hon. Kolade Akinjo, commended Aiyedatiwa’s leadership and urged full commitment from party members to ensure victory in November.
