Ondo PDP Rejects Campaign Committee List Issued by Governorship Candidate Agboola Ajayi

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the campaign committee list released by the party’s governorship candidate, Mr. Agboola Ajayi. Ajayi, through his media aide, Mr. Sam Ogunmusi, announced the appointment of several party chieftains to the campaign committee, with Dr. Eddy Olafeso, a former National Vice Chairman (South West) of the party, named as chairman.

In a statement issued on Monday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kennedy Peretei, the PDP dismissed Ajayi’s announcement, stating that it violated the party’s constitution and was not sanctioned by the party.

“The announcement by one Samuel Ogunmusi appointing persons to coordinate the campaigns of Agboola Ajayi for the November election is not only embarrassing but a violation of the PDP Constitution (2017 as Amended),” Peretei said. He cited Articles 46(1) and 40(1)(a)(b) and (c), which do not allow such announcements to come from individuals not officially recognized by the party.

The statement further emphasized, “Our party is an organized party and guided by rule of law. At the appropriate time, appointments for the local campaign council will be made public.”

As the November 16 governorship election approaches, the PDP, along with 16 other political parties, has started campaigns across Ondo State.
