Omah Lay Accuses Fellow Artist of Stealing Album Concept

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has revealed that a fellow artist stole the idea for what was supposed to be his next album. The “Soso” crooner disclosed that he had shared his creative concept with the unnamed colleague, intending to collaborate on the project. However, to his dismay, the artist went ahead and released an album with the same idea.

Speaking on the Zach Sang Show, Omah Lay recounted the experience, explaining how the situation forced him to re-record his entire album. “I shared an idea with a certain artist, and the artist went ahead and put out an album with my idea, and I had to re-record my album,” he said.

Omah Lay elaborated on the circumstances, noting that the artist approached him to collaborate on the project. “He came to me and I accepted for us to collaborate. Of course, it’s an artist that I love. And I told him where I’m headed with the sound,” Omah Lay shared. To his surprise, five months later, the artist released an album mirroring the sound and concept Omah Lay had initially shared.

Despite the setback, Omah Lay remains confident in his work. He emphasized that his upcoming album, which he had to remake, will be “the greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.” The incident, though challenging, seems to have only strengthened his resolve to deliver a groundbreaking project.
