Olubadan Promotes Five Chiefs in Ibadan Balogun Line

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, on Friday elevated five chiefs, including four senior and one junior chief, in the Ibadan Balogun line. The promotion ceremony took place at the new Olubadan palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area.

The traditional rites were conducted by Chief Wahab Popoola Labosinde, the Oluwo of Ibadanland, who adorned the newly promoted chiefs with the symbolic Akoko leaves. Among those promoted were Senior Chief Adegboyega Adeniran, who moved from Ekefa Balogun to Abese Balogun; Senior Chief Raufu Eleruwere, who advanced from Aare Alaasa Balogun to Ekefa Balogun; and Senior Chief Emiola Onideure, who rose from Ikolaba Balogun to Agbaakin Balogun. Senior Chief Taiwo Oyekan and Chief Tirimisiyu Obisesan, both absent, were also promoted.

In his remarks, Oba Olakulehin congratulated the chiefs and urged them to use their new positions to foster progress, unity, and development in Ibadanland and Nigeria as a whole. He also called on them to preserve Yoruba culture and enhance the well-being of residents and indigenes.

The event was attended by members of the Olubadan-In-Council, including prominent figures such as Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Oba Eddy Oyewole-Foko, and High Chief Sharafadeen Alli.
