Following a devastating rainstorm in some parts of Sango, Ogun State, the government has swiftly engaged with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to address the damage to poles and infrastructure. Over 30 communities were affected by the downpour, including areas like Iyana Iyesi, Osuke Town, and Ota Industrial Estate.
A statement by the Special Adviser on Media, Kayode Akinmade, assured residents that a government team has assessed the extent of the damage and is coordinating efforts with IBEDC. Fortunately, the cables were not energized before the destruction, which prevented potential loss of lives.
Efforts are underway to restore power, with some feeders already reconnected and cleanup operations initiated in the worst-affected areas. The government aims to fully restore power to Sango Ota before the end of the week, working closely with IBEDC’s regional team.
