Obi Asika Credits Nigerian Veteran Singers for Shaping Present-Day Artists

Veteran talent manager and music executive, Obi Asika, has underscored the profound influence of Nigerian veteran singers on the present generation of artists, asserting that today’s artists owe a debt of gratitude to their predecessors.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Hip TV program, Trending, Asika highlighted the pivotal role played by iconic figures such as 2Face, Daddy Showkey, D’Banj, and P-Square in shaping the landscape of Nigerian music.

According to Asika, the success and impact of current artists like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido are intrinsically linked to the legacy of these legendary singers. He likened Wizkid to D’Banj’s protege and Burna Boy to Daddy Showkey’s successor, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between past and present musical generations.

“2Face has a grass-to-grace story, the same with Daddy Showkey. These are legends. You can’t have a Burna Boy without a Daddy Showkey. You can’t have a Wizkid without D’Banj. You can’t have Davido without these legends like P-Square,” Asika asserted.
