Obasanjo: Nigeria is Complex but Not Difficult to Manage

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has reiterated that Nigeria, despite its complexity, is not a difficult country to govern. He made this statement during a memorial lecture honoring the late legal icon Akintola Williams. Obasanjo explained that understanding Nigeria’s intricacies and being honest with oneself, the nation, and God are key to managing the country effectively.

Reflecting on his presidency, Obasanjo highlighted the economic challenges his administration faced, particularly Nigeria’s high debt profile, and his efforts to secure debt relief, which he achieved despite the country’s status as a leading oil exporter.

He also praised Akintola Williams for his contributions to Nigeria and urged future leaders to emulate his dedication to service.
