Kano, Nigeria — The anti-vandalism unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has apprehended three suspected vandals in the state. This was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, made available to *The PUNCH* on Friday.
According to the statement, two of the suspects were arrested at Eid ground, IBB way in Kano metropolis during a night patrol. “The operatives while on night patrol duty apprehended two suspected vandals at Eid ground, IBB way, Kano. The suspects, Sunusi Musa, 30, and Musbahu Habibu, 32, were arrested at around 1630 hrs on Wednesday while melting large caches of streetlight cables they vandalized and stole at Koki Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA, Kano State,” Abdullahi said.
Another suspect, Muhammad Ado, 47, was caught at Race Course Road, Nassarawa GRA, Kano, while packing vandalized streetlight wires at around 1100 hrs.
All three suspects are currently in the custody of the NSCDC as investigations continue. “On completion of the investigation, they’ll be made to face the full wrath of the law while the command is on the trail of three accomplices of the criminals who are at large,” Abdullahi added.
Commandant Mohammed Falala, the head of the Kano State Command, issued a stern warning to vandals of critical national assets and other criminals to desist from their activities. He emphasized that the Corps has launched a serious manhunt for criminal elements, and those caught will be brought to justice.
