NSA Ribadu Demands Retraction Over Election Rigging Allegation by Edo PDP Chairman

National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has demanded a public retraction of an allegation made against him by Anthony Aziegbemi, chairperson of the Edo chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The allegation, made on September 14, accused Ribadu of involvement in a plot to rig the upcoming Edo Governorship Election in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Aziegbemi claimed that Ribadu had released $2 million to the APC candidate as part of this effort.

Ribadu’s lawyers, Charles Musa & Co, described the allegations as “totally false” and damaging to his reputation, demanding an immediate retraction and a public apology. They emphasized Ribadu’s long-standing record of integrity as a former Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and rejected the notion that he would engage in such conduct.

In addition to the retraction, the NSA’s legal team has demanded a full-page apology in several national newspapers, online platforms, TV stations, and radio channels. They are also seeking N10 billion in damages for reputational harm, with the threat of legal action if these demands are not met within seven days.
