Notorious Cult Leader ‘2Baba’ Killed in Joint Security Operation in Rivers State

The reign of terror orchestrated by the notorious cult leader, Gift Okpara, widely known as ‘2Baba,’ met its end in a joint security operation conducted in the Embrass community, Ahaoda West Local Government Area of Rivers State. The confirmation of his demise came on Friday as the police retrieved his decomposing body, marking the culmination of a relentless pursuit of the prime suspect in several heinous crimes, including the murder of a former Divisional Police Officer.

Reports reveal that ‘2Baba’ was the mastermind behind the brutal killing of the late SP Bako Angbashim in the Odumude community, Ahaoda East Local Government Area, on September 8, 2023. His dreaded gang ambushed, dismembered, and filmed the gruesome act before escaping with the decapitated body, sparking a manhunt by law enforcement agencies.

Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, detailed the operation that led to the discovery and exhumation of ‘2Baba’s’ body from a shallow grave in the Ebrass forest. The police, aided by credible intelligence, successfully located the burial site, unraveling the mystery surrounding the cult leader’s whereabouts.

Acknowledging the support received from the Nigerian Air Force, Commissioner Disu highlighted their contribution to softening the ground and facilitating access to ‘2Baba’s’ camp. He also expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fabura, for their unwavering support throughout the operation.

Chairman of Ahoada West, Ben Eke, positively identified the corpse of the notorious cult leader, affirming the collective relief felt by the community. With ‘2Baba’s’ demise, there is a renewed sense of security and optimism for the residents, paving the way for businesses to thrive and restoring peace to the region.
