Northern Elders Hail Tinubu’s Strategy Against Insecurity in the North

The Northern Elders Progressive Group has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to combat insecurity in the northern region, particularly through his new strategy, “Fansan Yamma.” In a statement issued on Thursday, Alhaji Mustafa Aliyu Dutsin Ma, Chairman of the Arewa Elders Progressive Group in the Northwest, praised the aggressive approach Tinubu has taken in addressing the persistent security challenges, especially the military crackdown on bandits.

The group highlighted Tinubu’s decision to deploy military force to dismantle bandit strongholds, calling it a key step toward restoring peace. They also pointed to the recent visit by Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Bello Matawalle, to the bandit-ridden areas of eastern Sokoto State as a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against insecurity. The visit was seen as a display of the federal government’s commitment to confronting the issue head-on.

“We are convinced with greater joy that the federal government under President Tinubu is ready to approach the issue of insecurity aggressively, taking the bull by the horns to destroy bandits’ enclaves, reaching them in their own places without mercy,” the group said.

The Northern Elders urged governors in the northwest to collaborate with the federal government to ensure lasting success in tackling banditry. They also commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto for his efforts in working with federal authorities to address the security crisis.

The group further assured President Tinubu of their continued support and pledged to offer guidance in his efforts to restore peace and unity in the region. They also praised the sacrifices of the military and Defence Minister Matawalle, encouraging similar visits to other affected states to boost morale and strengthen military operations.
